The closures and other travel restrictions very negatively affect the mental and physical health of anyone in the world right now. A lot of students have gotten infected with this virus and some of their family members were lost due to this pandemic. What factors have hit their mental well-being and is now the government taking measures to reduce the spread of this virus by giving vaccines? There are a lot of mental challenges which students are facing these days. One thing is financial problems and a lot of families have lost their sources of income because of these long-lasting lockdowns and other restrictions. When universities are conducting education online, they need to have equipment such as laptops or smartphones to grab that knowledge. But financial problems have come across and become a barrier to them. Sri Lanka is In a developing country, this problem is very common among a lot of students who live in rural and even urban areas. This challenge described by (Alifah, 2021) that, that many students did not have study rooms in their dwellings, contributing to a loss of attention Students were physically, psychologically, and emotionally uprooted, which had a massive impact on their learning experience and had a significant impact on their learning experience. Another significant health issue is a lack of nutrition. Dietary issues are a regular phenomenon, mainly in developing nations. Suddenly, the student’s nutritional and medicinal status appears to have an impact on his or her performance. Raw output is higher for students with better nutritional and health status throughout all anthropometric indicators. (Gomes-Neto et al.,1997) According to the findings of (Cardenas et al., 2020), The most frequent mental health difficulties that many young adolescents encountered during the epidemic were psychological misery and depression during social isolation and quarantine. During the pandemic, people developed psychosocial and behavioral issues such as carelessness, insecurities, lack of focus, and fear. Many students are experiencing worry, dread, and problems as a result of the coronavirus lockdown, such as a fear of dying or a fear of their families dying. Another challenge is related to online examinations and assessments. When students are going to face examinations online, they are in stress about these new systems, and they get desperate when exams are getting postponed. Not only in exams but also in completing and submitting assessments within a given time during this pandemic create a lot of stress on students. That stress increases further because of other challenges which have been raised from Covid-19. According to (Arabia, 2020), they noted that Demands due to an increase in course work that students are facing, particularly with internet problems and weak signals witnessed by some students, are a stressor that puts students at risk of depression. During the submission of their coursework, university students’ symptoms of depression are increasing. ADB’s research highlight that, Smartphones may be injurious to students’ physical and mental health, and some students are particularly worried about boarding fees while they are physically away from higher education institutions. (Hayashi et al., 2020).
